Mary’s House Services board members and CEO are united in their support for the Uluru Statement from the Heart.
We have heard the voices of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women leaders who have highlighted that First Nations Australians need to be heard and consulted on government initiatives to eliminate domestic and family violence, particularly given the disproportionately high rates of violence towards First Nations women and children in Australia. We support the sentiment expressed in the Uluru Statement:
”WHEN WE HAVE POWER OVER OUR DESTINY OUR CHILDREN WILL FLOURISH. THEY WILL WALK IN TWO WORLDS AND THEIR CULTURE WILL BE A GIFT TO THEIR COUNTRY.
