Beanies & Scarves
Photo: the recent craft group in knitting mode
As the cold weather sets in, a retirement village from the south side of Sydney has knitted and crocheted the residents of Mary’s House a number of gorgeous, warm, handcrafted scarves and beanies.
Here’s what resident, Margaret says:
‘When our Retirement Village was established nearly three years ago, the Ladies in Residences very soon got together to knit or crochet for small rugs, later scarves & some beanies.... the little rugs delighted the new- born baby centre at Westmead, and the Windgap Centres for people with intellectual disabilities were excited to receive rugs for their beds. Then Youth Off the Streets began our scarf chapter and this has expanded to fashion scarves as exampled in your recent package!!
Of course the weekly craft session has also inspired many ladies to attend just for the chat & cuppa!
I do hope the package was useful at Mary’s House.
With love to you all and many thoughts are often with you and the workers & guests.’
